Doctor Valerie Phillips ND (Dr. Val) is a native Angelino who started studying the medical arts as a teenager in magnet school. She studied Biochemistry at U.C. Davis, and subsequently pursued research in neuropathology at U.C. San Francisco.
She also volunteered at the Berkeley Free Clinic and at the Native American Health Center in San Francisco, and became a “lay healthcare worker,” delivering limited primary care services to the underserved populations of the San Francisco Bay area.
Based on this experience, Dr. Val decided to pursue her long term interest in eastern and alternative forms of medine by pursuing a Naturopathic Medical degree at Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA. The education was the perfect blend of western scientific medical thought combined with herbal traditions from across the globe, nutrition, physical medicine and many more disciplines designed to train physicians to see all the aspects of the human body as a holistic unit.
As eclectic as the Bastyr education was, Dr. Val added extra study in the areas of Yoga, raw foods nutrition and detoxification medicine. She is currently practicing as an alternative primary care physician offering many services, including the following:
